Photographer and writer Karpov documents the stories of the humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean Sea involving refugees fleeing the Middle East and Africa. Fleeing war, violence, discrimination, and poverty in their home countries, these refugees face another gauntlet of uncertainty at the hands of smugglers, and corrupt Libyan police and government officials, which if they were lucky, could take months or years to either make it to Europe, or be sent back home to their home countries.
