Is there a particular local artist whose work you admire?
Way too many to mention. Detroit is a ocean of talent.
What themes do you tend to pursue in your work?
Trees, abstract patterns in nature, reflections in water
Where are you finding inspiration lately?
Big bodies of water, trees
Is there a single habit that you strongly believe contributes to your success as an artist?
Devotion to the craft, addiction of the image capture, teaching photography/multi media, giving and receiving love and appreciation. Working in numerous communities (special needs and elder care plus..) which brings abundance to any and all.
How do you feel about the art market / scene in Detroit? Have you seen a shift in the last few years?
We have a strong community of artists that support each other. The gallery scene has improved with new and successful Galleries (Galerie Camille), along with the institutions that have remained and continue to provide exhibition space and places to teach and learn. However, I trust collectors and corporations will look local to artists who have devoted their lives and careers to Detroit.
What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming exhibition?
Exhibiting in an amazing gallery with dear friends and the opportunity to present an amazing abundance of talent and stunning art. Also, having a line of clothes from my artwork, designed by the talented and beautiful Leslie Ann Pilling. It is also very exciting to start my relationship with Galerie Camille.
What one item would you grab if your house were on fire?
My house was set on fire - panicked when I read the question.
